Jurgens Caravans Are Back in Australia

Jurgens caravans are being built again in Australia. Willow RV, the Victorian builder run by the original Jurgens team, has relaunched the brand as a cost-effective, Australian-built alternative to imported caravans. Searle’s RV Centre in Bundaberg is selling them again.
If you’ve been around caravans for a while, you know the Jurgens name. After a few quiet years it’s back, and we’re proud to have it back on our yard.

We know these caravans
For many years we were a Jurgens dealer, back when Eddie Wills and Ian Jow were running the company as directors and founders. For years, customers kept asking us when Jurgens would be coming back. Now it has, and it’s the original team bringing it home.
Jurgens has been building caravans in South Africa since 1952. Eddie and Ian took the name to Australia in 2007 and, as co-founders and directors of Jurgens Australia, grew it to hundreds of vans a year. They later sold their shares in Jurgens Australia to Jurgens South Africa. Some years later, when the South African company went into receivership, Jurgens in Australia closed down with it. In 2017 Eddie and Ian started Willow RV in Pakenham, Victoria, and now they’re bringing Jurgens home.

Why Jurgens is back
Willow RV has been building caravans in Pakenham, Victoria, for nearly a decade. Jurgens is a different idea from the same factory.
Plenty of Australian buyers have been looking at the cheaper imported market, and it’s easy to see why. A low price is hard to ignore. But a cheap caravan isn’t always a well-built one, and not every import is made for the way Australians use theirs.
Jurgens is here to fight back. It’s a cost-effective alternative that is Australian-built, locally made and not imported. It keeps the manufacturing, the jobs and the quality in Australia, and gives buyers a reason to choose local.
It’s also lightweight. Jurgens built its name on lightweight caravans, and the new Tourer carries that on with a lighter build that’s easier on your tow vehicle and leaves more of your payload for the things you actually want to bring.

The new Jurgens Tourer
Every Jurgens Tourer is built by Willow RV in Pakenham, Victoria, using modern building techniques usually reserved for high-end caravans. The walls and roof are one-piece composite with integrated polyurethane framing, the floor is a honeycomb floor that’s lighter and stronger than a traditional floor, and it all sits on a hot-dipped galvanised chassis. Fewer joins and less weight mean a caravan that’s built to last and easier to tow.
The Tourer comes in 18ft and 20ft, in five layouts:
- Tourer 5224: 18ft, single axle, lounge, rear ensuite
- Tourer 5508: 18ft, tandem axle, L-shaped lounge, rear ensuite
- Tourer 6028: 20ft, cafe dinette or L-lounge, rear ensuite
- Tourer 6022: 20ft, slide-out bedroom, club lounge, rear ensuite
- Tourer 6021: 20ft, sleeps four to five, rear bunks, L-shaped lounge
Every layout includes: island queen bed, reverse-cycle air conditioning, 200W solar with a 100Ah lithium battery, 270L compressor fridge, microwave, washing machine, two 95L water tanks and a rollout awning. Willow RV backs the structure with a 3-year structural warranty.
