Things to Consider Before Buying a Caravan

Before you buy your next caravan, there are a few basic questions you are going to need to ask yourself, as you take in all the different types and models available on the market today.

Once you find the answers to the following questions, from there you’ll have a better grasp on what you want and this information will help your dealer to find the right caravan for you.

1. Do you plan to use your Caravan or RV all year round?
Will you be heading for the warmer climate locations in winter, or just taking long weekends throughout summer to chase the waves?

2. How long will your trips be?
Will you be heading off on big trips with a lot of highway driving or will you be heading off-road in remote locations?

3. How many beds will you need?
Think about who will be coming with you on your trips. Adults? Children? Do you need extra sleeping accommodation available all the time, or maybe just on the odd occasion? Do you have anyone with disabilities or special requirements? How much privacy do you need? Do you mind having to make up beds every night in your living area?

4. How much room will you need for storage?
Do you need to pack for long extended trips? How many people do you need to pack for? Consider the amount of food and clothes you will need to take – plus all the toys, games and possibly sports equipment?

5. Where will you camp most of the time?
Will you be staying mainly at caravan parks, which have utility connections and other facilities or will you head out into the bush to free camp, discover designated campgrounds or campsites in national parks?

6. How much cooking do you plan to do?
Will you need a large kitchen with appliances, plenty of counter space and food storage areas? How many people will you need to seat in the dining area?

7. What activities will you pursue?
Will you need carrying racks and extra storage for the bikes and kayaks? Will you require the ability to tow a boat, canoes, ATV or an additional vehicle for use on arrival at your destination?

8. Do you need a good entertainment centre?
Are you a TV and Movie lover? Should your caravan or RV have top quality with TV, DVD and stereo? If you’re entertaining regularly, will you need speakers both inside and out?

9. What is the towing capacity of your vehicle?
